Bolivia Accepts 88 Haitian Refugees

Bolivian Immigration confirmed that as of January 27th Bolivia has admitted 88 Haitian refugees who are now located in the city of Santa Cruz. Most are women and children who entered Bolivia via Peru on a 30 day tourist visa. According to the newspaper El Potosí, the Haitians tried to enter Argentina at the Villazón-La Quiaca border point but were refused entry.  Immigration reports that the Haitians are free to move about the country and have not solicited to stay in Bolivia longer at this point.
