On Tuesday the 5th prosecutor Franz Contreras cited several Banco de Credito employees in a plot to help accused embezzler Dante Escobar Plata. Plata is incarcerated without charges in the San Pedro prison to
prevent a possible flight from arrest due to his mismanagement of the now defunct Public Employees Retirement Fund. It is not yet clear what level of involvement the multi-national Banco de Credito may have had in the scandal.
