The Bolivian government believes that the tourism sector grew 10% in 2009 despite the global financial crisis and the H1N1 flu pandemic. Vice-minister of tourism and industry Iván Cahuaya declared that tourism revenues
reached 314 million dollars in 2009. Cahuaya said, “Since 2006 the flow of tourists has grown in number to more than 1 million foregn visitors, something that prior governments had no achieved and breaks the myth about the Morales government.”
