Alejandro Wolff, the Deputy Permanent U.S. Representative to the United Nations struck back against
Bolivian President Evo Morales' demands that the US military leave Haiti called them "retrograde". Evo had called the US military aid mission "inhuman, savage and opportunist" and Wolff responded, "These type of declarations have nothing to do with reality and they own more to the pyschology of the person that says them. It's retrograde and it has nothing to do with the actual situation." Wolff reminded listeners that the US military was responding to an invitation by the Haitian government and the US had already contributed 165 million dollars to Haitian relief efforts. Wolff added that, "I would love to touch on the subject of how much the Bolivian people are helping Haiti". Evo announced Wednesday that he will be asking the UN to "Repudiate and reject the US military occupation of Haiti".
