New Mining Minister: We'll Respect Private Investments

Bolivia's new Mining Minister Pimental assured private companies that their capital is safe in Bolivia under the new Constitution and also spoke about promoting the creation of value added products rather than just exporting raw ore. His predecessor Milton Gómez who only held the office for 1 week stepped down over allegations of corruption when he worked at the National Health Agency.  Pimental said that 2010 will see $200 million put towards funding mining projects in Bolivia and industrialization of these minerals will be prioritized. Pimental highlighted that industrialization projects will focus on iron and lithium.
